Masks are coming back in Germany
German Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann said that new measures will be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Buschmann announced that as part of the measures, masks will be mandatory in closed areas in the fall.
In an interview with the Berliner Morgenpost, German Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann stated that the summer wave of COVID-19 has already lost strength, but the autumn and winter months should be taken seriously.
Buschmann said he is confident that the measures to be taken to combat the virus will be completed by the end of July. Stating that the measures will be discussed with the authorities in 16 states of Germany, Buschman stated that the decisions will be sent to the parliament in September.
According to Buschmann, the cabinet is already working to develop mask requirements for public transport.
The minister pointed out that Germany’s new COVID rules will be “proportionate” and aim to protect not only people’s health, but also their fundamental rights.
“We agree that there will be no more quarantines, general school closures and curfews in the cabinet. “These are inappropriate solutions in the third year of the pandemic,” he said.
